The famous, long-running U.S. ‘Got Milk?’ campaign introduced a new concept – an alien planet, Brittlelactica, whose ailing inhabitants discover a white magic elixir found only on Earth. Our brief was to help create an online presence that would both support the TV ads and develop the Brittlelactica theme.
Working closely with Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, we further developed their early concepts into a fully working site – more specifically bringing expertise in design, animation, 3-D modelling, programming and production.
Creating a site that would make the world seen in the commercials feel alive and convincing. To do this, we needed to create something very special – that would ultimately require all of our combined expertise in interactive development, art direction, 3-D design, motion graphics and Flash programming.
The campaign kicked off with a teaser site, a forum where dairy farmers could share their personal ‘missing cow’ horror stories. The spoof site was written from a farmer’s viewpoint, and included collections of pictures, videos and personal messages to the abductors – the audience was also encouraged to submit their own material. This created a real buzz around the campaign.
Following the teaser, the main site, provided a chance to get up-close and personal with the extra-terrestrial intruders – the Brittlelacticans. Written from the perspective of the aliens, it delves deeper into the story and explains why the inhabitants of Brittlelactica need milk in order to survive. While the tone of the site is fresh, fun and entertaining, it promotes the health-benefits of milk, the “white wonder tonic“.
This campaign focused on U.S. consumers.
