Jury work

The award show season started and we are glad and honored to be part of a couple of juries out there. Being in a jury is a great way to keep up with new and innovative work and get lots of inspiration. You also take a bit of more time to reflect and discuss exciting ideas than you normally would. In a way, it also helps to review your own work in new ways. Last but not least it also feels nice rewarding colleagues in the industry who fight hard to make amazing work happen.

Daniel will be judging The Webby Awards and be part of the Cannes Lions Cyber Lions jury. Robert will be judging The D&AD Awards and also sits in the digital jury for our own Swedish award show Guldägget/Golden Egg. Jakob will be judging the really cool Visuelt competition in Norway.

Winner of FWA People’s Choice Award 2011!

FWA_PCA2011
For the third time we are part of winning FWA People’s Choice Award – one of the finest acknowledgements in the interactive industry.

Working with 3 Dreams of Black was an amazing team effort and a result of true collaboration. So many great minds worked hard together cross borders of both expertise and disciplines; spread across the globe we formed a rare creative joint venture that brought Chris and Aarons wonderful visions to life.

Part of the goal was to move and inspire the creative community. Therefor it feels extra good to receive the FWA PCA 2011.

A big thanks to everyone involved making this happen: Chris, Aaron, Doob, Sandra, Thomas for giving us the opportunity. Special thanks to Branislav, Eskil, Bartek, Micke, Klaus and the rest of the guys involved pushing the limits. Full credits here – each and everyone on that list deserve a shout out for being so dedicated.

Also a huge thanks to all the people who voted.

We are all super happy and amazingly proud.

Certificate design: FWA Mobile Of The Day

FWA-mobil-award-620-px

Earlier this year we got the honor to design four FWA awards certificates. FWA has also a Mobile Of The Day (MOTD) award which we now have designed and delivered to FWA.

(Vodafone BufferBusters is our first MOTD by the way.)

Test prints on the earlier certificates; SOTM (Site Of the Month, SOTY (Sity Of The Year), PC (People’s Choice) and SOTD (Site Of The Day). FWA have a gallery on their website where people can upload and show their awards.

The famous FWA digital award ribbons are vectorized and placed in the lower right corner of the prints.

The basic idea was to make something that would look good on your wall, and even better, if you would have a collection of several certificates. The typeface and the design are taken from the FWA digital award ribbons, which made me start thinking of knitting, which also looks like pixel art in a way. Both knitting and pixel-art is handcrafting, which matched the idea perfect since the winners of FWA awards are filled with both love and care for the craft.

The 5 Experience

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The 5 Experience was a launch campaign for Wrigley 5 Gum in South Africa. We created this campaign together with our friends at Tribal DDB South Africa. The 5 Experience gave us the opportunity to tap into the trend of 3D mapping projections, and create something truly unique.

SOLUTION

For the first time ever, we gave people the chance to create their own 3D-mapping building projection to a track by one of the key figures of the international electronic scene, Etienne de Crécy, who Rolling Stone calls ‘the next Daft Punk.’

The best participants were then rewarded with their creations being projected live onto two landmark buildings in South Africa.

We are designing FWA Award Certificates

We got a honorably assignment from Rob Ford this autumn to design FWA Award Certificates. The four certificates are SOTM (Site Of the Month, SOTY (Sity Of The Year), PC (People’s Choice) and SOTD (Site Of The Day). The typeface and the design are taken from the FWA digital award ribbons, which made me start thinking of knitting, which also looks like pixel art in a way. Both knitting and pixelart are just handcraft, which matched the idea perfect when the projects you see on FWA are filled with that.

We win three Cannes Lions!

We had a good last week in Cannes as we picked up three Lions from Cyber categories.
One Silver for Swedish Armed Forces in category “Best Use of Video” and two Bronze Lions for Adidas Teamgeist in the categories “Animation” and “Graphic Design and Illustration”. Sweet end to a good award season overall.

Award Season – Gold and Silvers

We have picked up quite a few awards recently and this weekend we were awarded a Gold World Medal in New York Festivals for the adidas teamgeist work in the category Entertainment/Promotion. We were also lucky to get plenty of shiny silver pencils from OneShow Interactive for adidas, GE Smartgrid (also won a bronze) and Swedish Armed Forces.

In D&AD, adidas were one amongst very few to get short-listed, but no pencil this time. However, at Clio, adidas project got bronze.

It feels like we should have a good chance of picking up something from Cannes next week, in particular with this new “Craft” category they´ve added. Soon we will know.one_show_silver

North Kingdom on the 2010 Creativity 50 list

2010 Creativity 50 North Kingdom

This is cool! For the second time the last three years, we are on the 2010 Creative 50 list. It’s a list where Ad Age and Creativity celebrate the year’s most inspiring thinkers and innovators.

“Welcome to the fifth annual Creativity 50. Each year, we cite those people and companies that made the biggest impact across all areas of creative culture. There are advertising and marketing people on the list. There are also tech pioneers, designers, directors, entrepreneurs, and others who challenged the established way of doing things and inspired with their action.”

Read the whole article here: creativity-online.com

Creativity writes about North Kingdom;

“From GE’s Smart Grid augmented-reality site with Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, to Adidas Teamgeist for the German sports brand, North Kingdom has built a Swedish digital-production agency with work that can translate to any culture, anywhere in the world… The agency actually likes the challenge of working with shops in other time zones and thinks its northern location, away from the creative hotbeds of Amsterdam and New York, means its designers and developers can concentrate on one project at time, since “every single pixel needs love.”

I’m not so fond that they only have the co-founders presented thou, when it is an award for the whole team; from Gothenburg, through Klaverström and Stockholm up to Skellefteå.

However, keep up the good work folks, it’s the third time that is the hardest ;)

gaga

Cool also to see Lady Gaga on the same list! She is doing some crazy stuff out there! However, I would rather do a project with her then be on the same list… :)
