How do you make an all-digital esports event even more engaging, involving & immersive than attending in real life?

Making an all-digital esports event engaging, immersive and interactive is no small feat. The challenge is to create an experience that rivals the excitement and energy of in-person participation, where fans can physically be a part of the action, cheer on their favorite teams, and connect with other fans.

The platform's launch during the World Finals in September 2022 was a success, with 22 million cheers and over 500,000 in-game rewards unlocked by fans. By putting the community in the forefront, we demonstrated the potential for virtual events to offer an immersive, engaging and interactive experience, surpassing even in-person participation.

We approached the challenge with a mobile-first strategy and leveraged the highly engaged Clash fan base. To achieve this, we created an interactive platform around the live broadcast stream. This platform allowed fans to cheer for their favorite team, make match predictions, vote for MVP, and participate in real-time polls and quizzes. To further increase engagement, we also implemented a reward track that encouraged fans to participate more. The more they engaged, the higher they progressed on the track, unlocking in-game awards.
